Dierre Community Housing Group is a housing organization serving Los Angeles County through Dierre Living. Our housing includes sober living and recovery-focused residences, as well as transitional housing designed for individuals working toward stability and greater independence.
A personal mission with a lasting purpose.
My name is Krystal Small, and I am a Los Angeles native. I created Dierre Community Housing Group from both personal experience and a genuine commitment to serving the community that raised me.
Dierre Living is named in honor of my late brother, Kevin Dierre Carey, who passed away in September 2025 at just 34 years old. During a period of transition in his life, Kevin spent time in transitional and recovery housing while working toward rebuilding his life and regaining his independence. His journey showed me firsthand how important it is to have a safe and stable place to land when you're not quite where you were, but not yet where you're trying to go.
After Kevin passed away, I knew I wanted to create something meaningful in his honor. His experiences shaped my vision for Dierre Living: housing where people are treated with dignity, where the spaces they live in are clean, thoughtfully maintained, and cared for with integrity, where there is structure and accountability, and where people are given the opportunity to move forward. Dierre Living is about providing more than somewhere to stay. It's about creating a foundation for what comes next.
I received my Master's degree in Diverse Community Development Leadership from California State University, Northridge, where I also earned my bachelor's degree in Communication Studies. Together with my professional background in human resources, workforce outreach, talent operations, and people-centered programs, my education has shaped how I approach this work with thoughtful structure, accountability, empathy, and a commitment to community.
